A few weeks ago a friend of mine sent me a link to a literary art project. He was considering volunteering to be part of a work titled “Skin” in which the only published text is in tattoos on volunteers’ bodies. I have to say, I was intrigued. A fascinating idea. It takes the concept of vellum to a whole new level.  The story to be told is apparently 2095 words long and with each volunteer having one word a piece obviously 2095 bodies needed to come forward.

This friend of mine, being that he is a both a literary geek and way too over educated for his own good, decided that he wanted to read up on Ms. Jackson’s other published works before committing to the idea.  Unfortunately (and I can honestly say I am disappointed by this) I got an email from him this morning informing me that he had finally decided to do it and sent in a request for his word only to be told that there are 10,000 volunteers lined up for this project but merely a few hundred words remaining. Bummer, eh?

One Response to “Skin”

  1. Oh, that’s great. They need to expand the project.
Supply and demand kind of thing, right? You’ve supplied the canvas, you can demand a word of your own!
