The finished project

I did manage to finish the crochet project on time. I’ve decided, however, not to bother with blocking it. I mean, it’s a baby blanket. It’s going to get washed any number of times and its shape distorted from snuggling and balling it up and pulling it along the floor, and perhaps even moping the floor with it. I base my assessment on MJ’s treatment of her blanket.

As promised, here is a photo of the finished project. I’m actually quite proud. This was my first scale crochet project of any sort and I think it came out quite cute.  I realize that I probably should have flattened it out before taking the picture, but you’ll just have to trust me when I say that even though it’s not blocked, it does lie flat.  😉

I put a ruler in the picture so you could get an idea of the scale. Most of the baby blankets I have seen, in my opinion, are way too big for a baby. They may look cute, but no kid is going to be able to haul them around. I wanted this one to be no more than 24″ in diameter, a good size for a toddler lovey.

So, one down, one to go. I’m making a similar blanket for a friend who is due in the beginning of April. Then I’m going to try a clothing project. I found a great pattern for a camisole.
